The Danish percussionists Uffe Savery and Morten Friis formed the Safri Duo in 1988 whilst still students at the Royal Danish Conservatory of Music. They have built up a broad repertoire which consists of famous piano works, especially those by J.S. Bach, arranged for marimbas and vibraphone as well as contemporary classical music, especially written for and dedicated to the Duo.

The Safri Duo has performed with major Scandinavian orchestras and given numerous recitals in most European countries, the United States and Japan. Further recordings with Chandos Records are planned.
