How to install from scratch?

Hello!
I would like to create 2 new partions on my harddrive (also delete the prsent ones). And I thought that I could do that with FDISK.exe but it seems to leave 8 MB just for nothing. It is not much but why?

So if any one could help me to know how to:

1: Create 2 partions
2: Format them in to NTFS.

Then I guess that it is just to insert the Win 2000 CD and install the OS? Correct me if I'm wrong.

If I need a bootdisk, please tell me how I create one, cause when I try to I allways end up with 4 disks and a friend told me that it wasn't the right one.

The easiest way, is to boot on the Win2000 cd-rom, and delete all partitions when installing.

After deleting the partitions, you can create a new partition, and select to format it as NTFS. (you can do that, in the process of installing Win2000)

When you have installed Win2000, you can use Computeradministration to create the 2'nd partition, and quickformat it as NTFS.

You can start the installation from the Windows 2000 CD, and in the begining af the installation you can partions you harddisk. The best way to do that, is mininum 6-7 GB on the installation partion (c:\) and then you can use NTFS.

And the reason whay you have 8mb of free space, is there the partions table i standing, og thats way you can seem to use it..

yes ; just boot on your Win2000-cdrom

right after the Win2000 install you MUST install the latest SP for W2K ; due to risk for HiJackers, Virus etc. (important; update before you enter the Internet ; and plz use af software firewall as well)
