Cant connect to the computers with smaba?
Hello!I'm trying to install Samba on My Linux Mandrake 8.0 so I can share files with a Lap top with Windows 2000.
It looks like everything is up and running on the linux machine. I can run the SWAT interface. I only got one user on the linux machine (root). But the problem is that I can't enter the linux machine from my windows 2000 machine. I can see the linux machine and the workgroup Mdkgroup from explorer in windows. I have also joined that workgroup with my laptop, I do not think that should matter but I did it any way.
But when I doubleclick the linux machine from windows I get promted to enter network password (Connect As: and Password). So I enter the only user I got, the root. But then it says that that one is incorrect???
If I open the Konqueror from the Linux machine and tries to connect to the windows machine Network>Localarea Network (I guess that should be the way) I got a massage saying: Could not create a connection to the localhost? Isn't Localhost the Linux Machine???
I can ping the computers from each others and connect to a webserver on the windows machine from the linux, and the linux is visible like I mentioned before on in the explorer at the windows machine. So some sort of connection is present.
So if anyone could give me some hints how to be able to connect to the different machines from each oters it would be great.
Best regards
Fredrik
