Is McDonald’s passé to kids?



I have read an article from the Newspaper “The wall street journal Europe” January 31 – February 2, 2003 whit the head line “Is McDonald’s passé to kids?” Its about how McDonald’s lose market to other rivals on the market, and how the national health is more in focus end ever, which is very bad for McDonald’s because the food they make is very fat.

Happy meals was introduce in 1976 and is the most profitable part of McDonald’s menu it’s bring about 3,5 million dollars each year but at the last 2 years the Happy meal sale by unit are going down with 10-12%. 
Happy meal is also the key to the market in Europe for a price at 2,99 Euro is it also the best profit for McDonald’s here. McDonald’s try also to devolve new products for instance. Juice with out sugar. The risen for bad times in McDonald’s is the main consumer, the children don’t like those small soft toy and plastic toy do much as they did before computer and play stations. McDonald have experimented whit those soft toys and plastic toy for example Have McDonalds make a campaign whit “find Nemo”. But the effect was not as McD. expected.
Macdonald’s try also to make a new target group, woman at 18-34 years old. It can be seen in the latest menus from McDonald’s for example Juice, Sandwich and salad shaker.
In the same time is more focus vent into fast food because food and health experts believe, the food is to fat and their no vitamins and minerals available in the product but in the same time says McDonald’s theirs food is very god and healthy. But a journalist have produce a film to show who dangerous the food is, he live at Mc. Food a mouth he was nearly dying of it. He will get injury of it the rest of his life.

My idea of McDonald’s and who I think they can win the market back


I believe McDonald’s image is bad, because people think at “McDonald’s have marketed men and woman around the world to, fat monsters”. How is been manipulate in the name of fast food will say manipulate because the fast food restaurants say they making a lovely and healthy meal in short time. I eat only at Mc. D. restaurant about 8-12 times at a year. Because I don’t like the food because the salad have been deep freeze, so it is not fresh, the meet in a burger is not at a high standard and I don’t think their is enough meet in the burger. So my opinion is, I don’t get enough for my money.
So I believe if Mc. D. scale survive they have to make a better standard on the raw material they use, so my advice is “fresh raw material are equal to more consumers who will take their children with them.
