If you are missing your CD-ROM drive or the drive is not functioning try the following instructions to correct this problem.

Solution 2 ==========
The protected-mode driver for the hard disk controller was not properly initialized when you started Windows previously. When this occurs, a NOIDE entry is placed in the Registry, preventing Windows from making future attempts to initialize the protected-mode driver.
To cause Windows to attempt to reinitialize the protected-mode driver, remove the NOIDE entry from the following registry key.
To gain access to the Registry click on Start-RUN then type in REGEDIT and click OK. From there the Registry is a tree type setup. Click the + sign in front of the HKEY_Local_Machine and navigate through the rest of the listing to the NOIDE entry, highlight and delete. Reboot and your CD-ROM will reappear and the yellow exclamation symbols will be gone on the Primary and Secondary IDEs.

Solution 3
Use the Device Manager to install the driver for the CD-ROM drive. In the System option in Control Panel, click the Device Manager tab. Double-click the CD-ROM drive to display the specific device. Double-click the device you want to configure. Or select the device, and then click the Properties button to view or change its settings.
To change the device driver using Device Manager In the Device Manager, double-click the related device type. Double-click your CD-ROM drive to display its properties. Click the Driver tab. The Driver properties dialog box shows the driver files and current resource setup for that device. Click the Change Driver button. In the Select Device dialog box, the Show Compatible Devices option is checked to show you a list of drivers that Windows 95 /98 has identified as compatible for your device. Or Click Show All Devices to see a list of all your drivers avaiable in Windows 95/98. In the models list, select the driver you want to use, and then click OK. If requested, follow the instructions on the screen to provide a disk or a path to a directory that contains the display driver.
