Why do I get error code C00D1197 when I try to play a file on the Internet?

You might encounter this error message for one of the following reasons:
•   

Your computer is not connected to the local area network (LAN) or to the Internet. Connect to the network or Internet, and then try again.
•   

The path to the file is not valid.

If you typed a Uniform Resource Locator (URL) in the Open URL dialog box, verify that the file name is spelled correctly and that the path to the file is correct, and then try again.

If you clicked a link on a Web page, the link might not be valid. The Web page provider must fix the link before you can play the file.
•   

The server where the file is stored is not available (for example, it might be busy or offline), so just try again later. If the problem persists, and your network streaming protocols and proxy server settings are configured correctly, you may need to contact the Web page provider and notify them of the problem.
•   

Some network streaming protocols in the Windows Media Player are not enabled. If you clicked a link on a Web page, you may be able to download the file to your computer, and then play it that way instead (right-click the link, and then click Save Target As). To play the file directly from the Internet (or stream the file), enable all network streaming protocols, and then try again.

To enable all network streaming protocols

In Windows Media Player, on the Tools menu, click Options, and then click the Network tab.

In the Streaming protocols area, select all the protocol check boxes.

The proxy server settings for the Player are not configured properly. Verify that your proxy server settings are correct, and then try again.

To verify your proxy server settings

On the Tools menu, click Options, and then click the Network tab.

In the Streaming proxy settings area, verify your settings. If you don't know what the settings should be, complete the remaining steps in this procedure.

In the Streaming proxy settings area, select a protocol, and then click the Configure button.

In the Configure Protocol dialog box, in the Proxy settings area, select Autodetect proxy settings. If you selected the HTTP protocol in the previous step, select Use proxy settings of the Web browser instead.

Hverken Microsofts egne anvisninger eller linket fra vejmand hjælper.
Jeg har så dowloadet westcoast's VLC mediaplayer, men kan ikke finde ud af, hvordan den sættes til at afspille filer fra nettet. Det er stadig WMP, der starter op.

Hvis du går ind og højreklikker på filen>åben med>vælg program, der kan du sætte VLC som standardafspiller.

Det kan jeg jo ikke rigtig, når det som nævnt handler om afspilning af filer fra nettet.

>john westcoast: Ja, det virker fint, men det kører åbenbart via en Media Player Classic og ikke mere WMP 10, hvilket ikke generer mig men mest er til andres orientering.

Tilføjelse: Det med at Media Player Classic anvendes i stedet for WMP giver yderligere den forskel, at hele filen skal være hentet, før afspilningen kan påbegynde.
