variabel vil ikke skrives

JEg har følgende funktion:

$question->getQuestion( ) indeholder : <img src="billede.jpg" height="$h">

Hvorfor indsætter den ikke variablen $h istedenfor at skrive som der står, altså  <img src="billede.jpg" height="$h">?
