Suse password

Don\'t know much about SUSE, but can you just use the root password ?

Just login as root and type

passwd username

I do not have access to the box. I mean I am not a created user in that box. The box is here beside me but I am not a user of it. My only alternative is to format the whole thing and make a new suse install. I thought it could be possible to reset the password at lillo boot.

Try to write
linux 1
to lilo at boot up. this will give might give
you a singel user mode.

if that doesn´t work, you can always take out the disk, and insert it into another linuxbox, an you can read all your data.

I need to reset the root password whatever it was before. So that I can create at lillo a new passwords which will give me admin rights. Is this possible????

Did you try my suggetion ? I might fail if he has
password protectet lilo, but I don\'t think thats
the standard configuration. (I use debian my self)

Your also could try to boot from a rescue disk
mount the harddisk and change the password file.

No I cant call him, the dude is out the country.
So the conclusion here is that the root pass cant be reseted. Ok I guess that is it.
