How to install Samba

Hello!

I'm a rookie at linux (Mandrake 8.0) and do not know so much.

I have try to understand how to install Samba so I can share files between a Win 2000 machine and my new linux machine. But it seems quit difficult. I found a built in documentation for linux and it got a link to SMB-HOWTO.html (install docs for samba) but the file was missing strangely?

I think I have downloaded the right stuff, but it seems really hard to install it, I guess it is not a file that I just can double-click and ta-da it is ready. In an other doc with the files that I downloaded it saya somthing about some backroundprocess nmdb, smdb but I cant figure out how to start them.

So if any one could give me som step by step info about how to install samba it would be great.


I also wonder about the "konqueror" (in file browsing mode), each time I switch on the machine I have to mount the CD-reader and floppy again. Should it be like that?


Perhaps one last question when I try to login at hotmail, I always get redirected without notice back to the login form again when I push the login button. Has any body else expirience that?
