Oops! I think i did something really bad!
Hello!I think i did something really bad right now!
Short description:
I tried to copy a file (~700MB) in dos like:
C:\slask>copy Mandrakelinux-10.1-Official-Download-CD2.i586[1].iso "D:\slask\Tem
porary Internet Files\Mandrakelinux-10.1-Official-Download-CD2.i586[1].iso"
1 file(s) copied.
But i can not find the file on my harddrive but the used size on the disk has increased (~700MB).
So if any one know how to get rid of this used space please let me know!
Long description:
I got 2 computers, one with Windows 2000 connected to the Internet and one with Mandrake 8.1. I tried to download Mandrake 10.1 CD2 for updating my Linux, but the size on my harddrive at the Windows machine was full so the last copy process when the downloaded file is copied to the real file could not perform. (You know from "Tempory Internet files" to the location where I tried to download it on my disk.)
I made some clean up to get more space, but I did not want to download it again so I thought that If I could take a copy of the fully downloaded file in the "Temporary Internet files" and back it up. I would perhaps then be able to copy it back into Temporary Internet files and start the download again if there was some bytes that did not get downloaded at the first download. Perhaps the download process just would get those bytes. Now I'm pretty sure I did not need to do this at all, stupid me!!!
How ever I copied the file to a folder at with Explorer:
C:\slask
I did some clean up at D:
But I could not copy it back to "Temporary Internet Files" in Explorer:
D:\slask\Temporary Internet Files\
I thougt to my self: Aha! Perhaps this is some protection in Explorer, but if I use DOS instead perhaps this is possible.
So I wrote:
C:\slask>copy Mandrakelinux-10.1-Official-Download-CD2.i586[1].iso "D:\slask\Tem
porary Internet Files\Mandrakelinux-10.1-Official-Download-CD2.i586[1].iso"
1 file(s) copied.
But now I can not find my second copy at:
D:\slask\Temporary Internet Files\
But the disk size has increased (~700MB).
Since I do not have big disks I really would like to get rid of this stupid space so if any one could help me how to solve this it would be great.
Best regards
Fredrik
