How to connect to a shared folder?

I think the screenshot above does not try to use the windows shared files protocol, but assumes you want a connection to another system running Linux or Unix. But I am not sure.

Remember that Windows per default installs a firewall that does not allow folders to be shared. This will prove that you actually have access to the share:

( I assume you are running KDE)
Open Konqueror and write smb://192.168.1.34 . Do you see a list of shared items from your windows box?

If it somehow doesn't work, try writing "smbclient -L //192.168.1.34 -U windows_user_name" . This you also give you the list of shared items from the windows box.

Perhaps you could advise me some more.

First we realized that there was an Mcafee-firewall active.
We stopped that one.

Then we could see the shared folders with:
Konqueror and write smb://192.168.1.34 I had to login with my windows user and password.

That gave me an folder view of the shared folders.

...But I could not enter the folder that I was supposed to do, I had to write the windows user and password but it did not let me in?

Aha!!
Wait a minute, we had to add me as user to the folder!!

Now everything works fine.
