Win2000 Server and WMware

I am trying to make a little virtual network with Wmware, and I need a kind of tutorial about it. Something simple, one pdc/dhcp, one exchange, one firewall/other kind of software and clients.

All in all I think I want 5 machines. These virtual boxes will not have access to the outside world. I need some kind of tutorial about how putting this together. Please help.

Forstår du dansk?

What are you going to do with this?
Setting up the servers are just like setting it up on a normal machine. Can you more specific about what your not sure about?

Hmm I am not sure myself. I think I will have to install again and again until I get what I am looking for. Though I do not agree in that it is the same as a "normal" machine, yet I guess I can follow your hint. Never mind,
I will keep on installing and at the same time I will try to find a tutorial that explains the steps when setting up a little environment like the virtual one I want. Pdc, dhcp, firewall, exchange and two clients.

As i know if you want to go with wmware you can install all other os as you
like maybe one win2000 server and 2 clients ccan be what ever you want
thats the beauty of wmware.

bobbels is right. Just install vmware on your computer, and now make, let us say, 3 virtual machines and install windows/linux whatever on them. If you have configured it correctly they will all get its own ip, and when you have them all running they will see eachother as seperate machines :)

One I need to know is how I can start giving ip addresses to the boxes. That is really the problem. The pdc, has to have its own ip but what to give it, the virtual pdc is not connected to the host. So it has to have its own ip, now how to give it. I guess I have to try out.

If u have configured right, u can set up a DHCP server on one of the "machines" to give out ip's

This was my first entry in this thread:

it isn't so difficult actually... its just like setting up a normal network, here we're just running all the machines on one machine!

Have you tried installing a pdc or any of the type of programs before, or is it the first time?

Yes I have, installing is not really the problem, the problem is understanding the meaning of pdc and ip addressing. I mean, the first step would be to install windows 2000 server. On this one I have to install dhcp server to provide ip to the clients. But what about the server it self, what ip should it have, is it important what do I give it. Because I guess this is not related to the Dhcp server and the ips to the clients. Of course it has to be some kind of order, but am I right when I say they do not have anything to do with eachother?
