I havent made a runtime in XP, only in 97 but it should be very similar. While you make the setup kit it should be possible to get the wizard to generate a startup shortcut (which is in the menu) which includes a parameter which tells Access to start up in Runtime mode. This is actually also possible even when you dont have the developer edition.

You will ALWAYS have the Access window in the background, the runtime DOES NOT make your application into a "stand alone" application similar to those made in VB or other programming languages.

Hi Niels, this is one way around it, but I'm not sure this is what neesgaard is looking for, although it may be he can use it. As far as I can see he expects the runtime to make his application into a standalone application which it never will be. This is about the closest he will get though :o)

100% correct neesgaard :o)

I don't agree!
It is not nescesary to reprogram your application into Visual Basic just to get rid of the Access-window.
I have used Niels' solution several times before. If you choose to open your application minimized (in your desktop-shortcut), and have made all forms modal/popup, you will have the solution you want.
It may requires some recoding, since you usually don't have all forms as modal/popup. But it should be a small operation compared to reprogramming the entire application in VB.

terry -> Er det i Packaging Wizard under 'Run this command when installation is finished' du mener? Hvad skriver du helt nøjagtigt her for at ¨få den til at starte i runtime altid? Blot '/runtime'?

Strange that the /runtime option isnt shown in the links I gave, but yes /runtime should do the trick.

Hi Thomas>Not sure what you dont agree about. I agree that Niels' solution works, but I what I mean is that just by starting the application in runtime doesnt compile your application in to a stand alone application, Access is always there, but with some manipulation can be hidden.
