Kris2>Not sure I can help but I'll have a go! I am assuming that you have a router. Well I would think that ALL you need to do to get everything working as before is to keep the original setup and then take a cable from the Router on the LAN side and put it in the switch.

The Router will get one fixed IP address and the PC's will get their IP address from the router if you have enabled DHCP

The router should be attached to the ADSL connection from the WAN port and the switch should be connected to the Router on a LAN port.
set the PC so that they get there IP addresses from the Router NOT fixed IP's, only the router should have a fixed IP. (and maybe the PC you are using to attach to work.

Sorry I was not aware that I had to respond to the answers.

I do not have a router, but only a 8 port Switch. All connections goes throug this Switch. I was told by TDC that this was a better solution that a router.

The IP-adresses have to be fixed, because they are validatet on my companys server.

I think my problem is in setting up Windows Netværk, and using another protocol than IP for the local network????

Or maybe to put a swithc or hub in between the switch towards the internet, and the local computers. But I may be all wrong

OK kris2, its just easier for others to help if you give some feedback otherwise we have NO idea what the problem can be :o)

I'm not quite sure I understand how the firewall is stopping you from connecting your LAN! If you dont have a hardware firewall then where is it? XP Prof has buildt in SW firewall but that should not be a problem.

Do you have a HW firewall between the switch and the ADSL modem? If so I still dont see why there should be a problem.
I have four PC's connected to a router with built in switch and firewall. The router has a fixed IP on the WAN side and all PC's get their IP address from the router (DHCP).
It works just great :o)
