Mouse or keyboard stop responding when Windows starts if Auto-Protect is enabled
Situation:
You have Norton AntiVirus (NAV) Auto-Protect enabled, and when Windows starts, one or more of the following occurs:
- The mouse no longer works correctly; either the mouse pointer fails to appear, or the pointer appears but does not respond.
- The keyboard does not work.
If you disable Auto-Protect or uninsatll NAV, then the problem is resolved.
Solution:
This is usually caused to a timing conflict that can be resolved by starting Auto-Protect from the StartUp folder instead of the Windows registry. In some cases, if you are using NAV 2000, then it can happen because of a conflict with NAV email protection. Please see the instructions in each section.
