Hej Alle

Hi Jan, hope you had a good holiday :o)

Not quiet sure what you mean, are you saying that if it is open on one PC it cant be opened on another at the same time?

If this is correct then thishasnt anything to do with Access but the permissions on network share. Dont know much about permissions, but I'm sure that somewhere you can set how amny users can access a file at the same time, I thgink it is likley that this is the problem.

Terry, yes I had a good holiday, sunshine and high temperature all day. :-)

No, If the DB have been open on the XP computer (which hold the database), it can not be open on client computers at all, even though it is closed. The folder is shared and all permissions given the change files etc.

Never heard of that before! But it can still be opened on the XP PC?

If you first open it on a client PC then what happens?

It can always be opened on the XP pc, any time

but if open on XP computer I have to import all data to a new db file before it works on client computers. And then the db works fine on all client pc.

If I by mistake open the db again on XP computer I have to repair the db again

strange right

VERY strange

Do you use a client PC to create a new dB?

What is special about the XP PC, does it have another version of Office, 2003 maybe?

What is the actual error you get?

I use the XP pc for creating the new db

I use ACCES 2000

The error is:

Microsoft Acces can't find the database file`\\Server\ShipTool\Winstores.mdb`    Make sure you entered the correct path and file

Are you using a backend (data) on the server

On the db with backend I dont have problems

I get the error on the db with no backend, I use shortcut. The db have been working for many years like that
