IP address change

locally or public IP ?

IP setting are in:
/etc/sysconfig/network/ifcfg-eth-<mac-address> in SuSE.
something similar in Debian.
/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0 in RedHat.
/etc/network/interfaces in Ubuntu.

It's on a server that is broadcast across a LAN.

I figured it out. It was a fixed ip address using DHCP so I made a host declaration for the server in /etc/dhcpd.conf on the dhcp server:
host server_name {harware ethernet ethernet_address; fixed-addres server_name;}

If you have dynamic IP address then you can change it by:
1) Clear all cookies and cache file from your browser.
2)Go into command prompt ,type in "ipconfig/release" , then "ipconfig/renew" .
To goto command prompt Start->Run->type "Cmd" and Enter .
3)Either follow step 2 or Simply restart your modem/router .
Doing either step 2 or 3 will change your ip address,if you have dynamic Ip address.Visit IP-Details.com to check if your IP address is changed or not.
If you have Static Ip address then contact your ISP and request a ip change.
