For jeg vil også MEGET gerne kunne bruge flere IE-versioner, det er jo nærmest et MUST

Jeg ved ikke hvordan man gør det men jeg ved at flere brugere af eksperten har op til flere browsere :-)

Det plejer da at virke fint når jeg installere netscape men det er måske ikke det samme med IE

It is easy to install multiple versions of Netscape on the same computer, just download the old versions from Netscape\'s archive and install.

IE is a different matter - AFAIK you can\'t install multiple versions of IE onto the same copy of Windows. However what you can do is partition your drive into say 1 gig partitions, install Windows 95/98 (you\'ll need 95 for versions of IE earlier than 4.0) as well as different versions of IE on each of them and boot into whatever partition you need to try out IE on your page.


I have both IE5.5 and IE4 (a slimmed down version) on my non-partitioned drive. And I can run both of them side by side. Honest.

I already had IE4 when I upgraded to IE5.5. During the upgrade I chose \'custom install\'. Then on one of the install screens I chose a button called \'Advanced Options\' (or something to that effect). From the next install screen I chose \'compatibility mode\'. This allowed me to keep a stripped down version of IE4 on my drive.

IE5.5 is my default browser. If I want to test some code in IE4, I go to my start menu, choose \'Previous Internet Explorer Version 4\' from my list of programs. I then get a dialog box asking me if I want to run IE4 in compatibility mode. Click \'yes\', and I\'m back in IE4.

It should be noted that I already had IE4 installed as my browser when I upgraded to 5.5. If you don\'t have IE4 loaded obviously you\'re gonna have to try and uninstall 5 and go back to 4 first. Not sure what problems that might cause you. I would search MS site for anything on \'compatibility mode\' and \'uninstall IE5\' first.

Also I have heard that there are some problems with running IE4 in compatibility mode if you have Windows 98SE. I have just Windows 98 (not the 2nd edition). Someone told me there is a work-around for the 98SE problem at MS site

The problem with MSIE on PC is, that you cannot install several versions on one system or you will crash (at least this is true for Windows, on Macintosh you can). The solution to this is to install a program called Browserola. Browserola will show you the same page in several versions of Netscape and MSIE. Well, sort of. If you use Stylesheets they will, alas, also work in a Browserola simulated non-HTML 4 browser! With Dreamweaver you can check whether your code works in different browsers, but it doesn\'t show you the pages.
Lynx is a text-only browser, still being used in universities, great for checking whether navigating on your site still works without the use of images (users can turn them off!) and probably gaining new importance because of browser capabilities of hand-held computers, watches, etc. in the near future

Det virker ikke rigtigt som om det kan lade sig gøre, da jeg jo allerede har en IE5.5 installeret. Jeg må dertil sige, at hvis man alligevel er ude i noget med at lave en partition, kan VMware varmt anbefales.

Slash\'s oldschool metode er nok den eneste \"rigtige\" løsning.

Jeg har nu downloaded brola101, og det er faktisk et fornuftigt program. Derfor går pointene til Kapla0
