Exchange server

Jeg har to spørgsmål.

1.

your exchange SERVER can be anywhere even if you move your domain. all you need is the MX record at the DNS to point at your exchange server.

the problem with TDC though is that you can not make changes to the router which might be necessary for exchange (you will need ports 25, 110 open)

never the less... if port 80 is open on the router then you can use OWA (outlook web access) to view mail on your mailbox directly on the database

1.
dr.m port 80 is of course open on my router.
Can you describe setting up OWA???

2.
When my service provider sets up a new dns due to moving my web, what do I need to make sure of (tell him), so that I or he don\'t fuck up the Exchange?

port 80 is open for out going traffic but I am not sure that for incoming. Ask TDC.
OWA is when you access you mailbox through a browser. you will need to install OWA on the exchange and you need an IIS server (could be the same one as exchange)

I have got a Com_server with ISS, so I will look in to OWA, after refering to TDC....Thanks!

Regarding the dns....
When my provinder sets up a new dns, witch infomation is he going to need to set the MX record??? Do I need to make any changes on my exchange???

assuming that your router has 2 interfaces (NAT) then your DNS host master needs to make an MX record that points at mail.yourdomain.dk
and a mail host that points at your external (internet) IP number.

Just to set things straight...

So again I\'ll have to find out if my TDC router supports NAT???
Then I\'ll telle my provider to set the MX record to point at mail.mydomain.dk and point the mail host at my Exchange servers ip (130.227.129.XXX)???

yep. you got it. but before you make changes to you MX record try to see that it works with the NAT and all. your exchange can always send mails without MX record. you cannot receive mails without MX

Try OWA with the IP as well. only when the infrastructure is in place, change the domain info.

I have tried to make a tracert on 130.227.129.XXX and I get the promt:

\"Tracking route to mail.mydomain.dk at 130.227.129.XXX over 30 jumps\"

This means that the ip 130.227.129.XXX is the one my provider needs for the mail host???
