Cleaning the ALL the logs in Debian.

  perl deleteallfiles.pl /dir/dir/dir

will delete all files in that directory and in any subdirectory?

Yeah but I dont want to delete them, just delete the content.

Do you mean: not delete the files, just set their size to 0 bytes?
How many root-directories are involved? All files, or just files with
a specific extension?

In Linux the logs are stored in /var/log, inside this directory you have other directories like apache, samba, news, exim, apache-perl and lots of files like the logs from mysql, debugg, mail etc......

I want to do something like rotate the files, but not exactly, I want to run a script which will go inside a file and delete the content of it. It will access directories inside /var/log/ and do the same.

Why delete ya logs?

Dont really see how that question can be relevant here. Now if you want to chat try visiting some chat channels, this is support. Here you can post questions and people that know the answers will answer. Will not question you why you want to do whatever you wish to do.

Yes, I have deleted all the ones ending in gz. since they are archived compressed files. I have also configured the rotatelog.conf to run daily, but what I wanted was to have a perl line or whatever that could do that automaticly, in the command line for instance.

You may want to change the initial directory til /var/log  :)
