Service hints & tips
Symptom
When adding a disk device, such as the IBM 8MB Memory Key, an Iomega Zip drive, or a second IDE hard drive, into an IBM system configured with a CD-RW drive and the IBM DLA (drive letter access) software, the system may report an "Invalid filter driver error" when installing the drivers for the new storage device. The user may also see a yellow exclamation point in device manager to the left of this new device. The new device will appear in My Computer, but may encounter issues, such as data errors or drive not ready, when an attempt is made to access it.
Affected configurations
All IBM NetVista 2292, 6341, 6343, 6349, 6350, 6790, 6791, 6792, 6793, 6794, 6795, 6823, and 6825 systems preloaded with Microsoft Windows XP Professional or Windows XP Home configured with a CD-RW or CD-RW/DVD Combo drive and the IBM DLA software.
Solution
Remove the DLA software from the system using the "Add/Remove Software" in Control Panel. Click here to download the latest IBM DLA software.
