Right this is really startin to get on my nerves now so can someone help? I recently bought a KT7 RAID mobo with Athlon 850, since I've had it I've had no end of problems with my hard disks. It completely killed one drive which is now in the process of being replaced. I'm currently running with a Maxtor UDMA33, I had NT on the drive which worked fine apart from freezing in IE ocassionally. I wanted 2000 on and so went with the install... Installed my grafix card (Voodoo 3) directx 8 and WinDVD. Went to download something and the damn thing locked up... reset the machine and i log in and it just freezes... What the hell is the problem... please help me my hair is gettin very thin.

Make sure that you are running the latest VIA 4in1 drivers. They solve alot of problems.
Try that first....

There was a paper included with my Abit KT7A RAID MB that says:
Attention Windows 2000 users
<Summary>
Owing to a defect of the VIA Bus Master Ultra ATA driver for Windows 2000, the system may hang up or crash occasionally after removing, adding, or changing IDE devices.
<Symptoms>
With the VIA Service Pack 4 in 1 drivers 4.26 for Win 2000 installed, the removal of a CD-Rom on IDE-2 may cause a BSOD with the following message:
"STOP:0X0000007B(0xF401B84C,0xCooooo34,0x00000000,0x00000000)
INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE
With the VIA Service Pack 4 in 1 drivers 4.26 for Win 2000 installed, the adding of a hard disk on IDE-2 may cause a BSOD with a message reguarding a registry error
<Cause>
It seems to be a problem of the Bus Master Ultra ATA driver included in the VIA Service Pack 4 in 1 drivers 4.26
<Solution>
When installing the 4 in 1 drivers 4.26 for Win 2000 uncheck the first item; VIA BM Ultra ATA driver. Afterwards, any removal, addition, or change of the IDE will be OK
If the Win 2000 system already includes an installed VIA 4 in 1 driver 4.26, you may uninstall the BM Ultra ATA driver before any change of the IDE devices. After the change, you may reinstall the BM Ultra ATA driver again.

Thanks, after having to re-install again, I got the latest drivers (4.29) running and the system has been up for almost a week now, with no probs.. fingers crossed!
