ISSUE: When trying to print to an HP Deskjet printer from the computer, blank pages eject, instead of the expected printed output. NOTE: This document does not address the issue of pages that have hearts, clubs, smiley faces, and other nonsense characters or text on them. For this issue, refer to the document, HP Deskjet Printers - Troubleshooting Garbled Printing and Communication Problems in Windows 95 and 98.
CAUSE: Two common causes for blank pages are:
Tape covering the ink cartridge nozzles; Creating the document to be printed with blank pages. SOLUTION: Confirm that the cartridges or free of tape and the printer is operational. Performing a self-test on the printer will verify that the ink cartridges and printer are operational.
To perform the self test, follow the instructions below:
Disconnect the parallel cable so the printer is only connected to the power. Turn the printer on. The green light will be on. While pressing and holding the power button, press and release the resume button four times, then release the power button. The test sheet should print (it may be necessary to attempt the test three or four times to be successful on the HP Deskjet 710 or 720 series printers). After a successful self-test, reconnect the parallel cable. If the page prints as it should, with color and black, the printer and the ink cartridges are operating correctly. In this case, look at the program and its settings. Go to the section of this document titled, " If the printer's self-test works properly ".
If the page is blank, or if there is only color or only black on it, either or both of the ink cartridges may have a light blue or green piece of tape covering the ink jets. To check for this tape, lift the printer lid, remove the cartridges, and check the bottom of them for tape covering the nozzles.
CAUTION: Do not remove the copper colored tape that contains the electrical contacts. Doing so will damage the cartridge
If tape is covering the nozzles, remove it and repeat the self-test. If the self-test prints this time, proceed with the "Checking for blank pages" instructions below.
If the self-test does not work, the cartridges may be dried out or defective. They have a 90-day warranty and may be returned to the dealer where they were purchased, for replacement. If it is not a cartridge issue and the self-test will not print, contact HP.
Checking for blank pages or incorrect settings in the document If the printer's self-test works properly If the printer's self-test works properly, the following steps should help determine if blank pages are being sent to the printer from the program, or there is an incorrect setting.
When attempting to print the document, click File, Print, and verify that the printer to be used is the correct HP Deskjet. Verify that the appropriate media size is selected in the program's Page Setup (usually accessed by selecting File and Page Setup). Remove any excess returns (paragraph marks) at the end of the text or document. Extra blank lines often create an additional page in the print job. Select Print Preview if the program has this feature (usually accessed by selecting File and Print Preview). The total number of pages contained in the document will often be displayed at the lower left of the window, but may vary with programs. Scrolling through the pages in the preview display will show which pages have contents. Remove blank pages found as noted above. Try printing a new document in the same program, or try printing from a different program. If the problem impacts just one program, it may be appropriate to reinstall that software from the vendor's installation disks. If the problem occurs in every application used, then delete and reinstall the HP printing software.
Nu er det jo at jeg må grine min bagerste del i laser.. først må jeg tilstå at dette ikke var min egen printer, der skulle laves.. dernæst må jeg også tilstå at det er første gang jeg har set en printer printe testsider ud, samt mails.. uden problemer.. selvom.. og her kommer fejlen.. rkhdk... tillyke... " Tapen var ikke blevet fjernet fra patronen ".. efter en lille afmontage og et par sorte fingre, kører printeren nu igen som en drøm.. rkhdk hvis du vil have del i point.. smid lige et svar, ellers må jeg jo dele dem mellem de 2 andre.. som egentlig ikke kom med det korrekte svar..
