Why do we get an unidentified network?

Hello Guys!

We got an workstation Dell Inspiron 530:
http://www.pcworld.com/reviews/product/31068/review/inspiron_530.html#specs

We recently upgraded it from Vista to Windows 7.

How ever on both Vista and Windows 7 we often get an unidentified network.
In some way the computer think's it is connected to two different network, our home network and the unidentified one.
...at the same time the network connection stop working.

The computer is connected to a Zyxel router thats supports both cable and wireless. How ever as I understand this computer just supports cable.

My other computer do not got this problem (Win 2000, Mandriva Linux 2010)

Our workaround is to disconnect the networks and connect it again.

This problem is pretty annoying, so if any one got any clue how to solve this, it is most welcome.

Best regards
Fredrik

Can you tell us a bit more about the unidentified network? Like network adresses or if it has a name like belkin 3com etc.
The issue could be that someone is connecting to your wireless router whilst being connected to another network if it is unsecured.

Maybe that you got an dialup connection setup too?

Click on the network icon, just below the top, there may be a "Dialup and VPN", if it state connected, try disconnecting.

Check if there is more than one lan connector. If you have connected 2 try removing one.
