\"BlackICE Defender is the ONLY firewall I\'ve tried that hasn\'t given me
BSODs at one time or another or simply failed to live up to its promise
(and no, I\'m not going to argue whether BlackICE is a \"firewall\" or an
\"intrusion detector\"). Go to
http://www.networkice.com .
What have I tried, other than BlackICE? Lessee:
ZoneAlarm Pro (very constant BSODs, as many, many other Win2K users can
attest). I have not tried the freeware version of ZoneAlarm, and I
won\'t be anytime soon.
Tiny Personal Firewall (BSODs with various beta builds, as well as the
very latest build 6, dated 1/10/2001)
PCViper (horrible application configurability)
Sygate Personal Firewall (corrupts winsock keys upon removal, sometimes,
much to the former user\'s dismay)
Norton Internet Security (even with the latest version, 2.54.39.0, I
have seen BSODs in SYMFILT.SYS)
AtGuard 3.22.11 (simply didn\'t work for me)
...and probably 10 or 12 others\"
