How to create shortcut to a Java app?

Hello guys!
I'm using Linux Mint at a newly installed laptop.
I got a couple of Java GUI-based applications stored as jar files that I have written my self.
In previous versions of Mint on this laptop I'm pretty sure I could create a shortcut from the desktop to these apps. But now I do not manage to get it right.

I got java 1.8 on this machine and I can start the apps with java -jar app.jar.

Do you guys got any solution how to make a shortcut to these apps in the best ways?

Best regards
Fredrik

You basically just make a shortcut with the command.

I am not that much into Linux desktop, but this page looks like it has a clue:

Hello guys!

The best I came up with is this:
Create a file on desktop:

cd /home/fredrik/Applications/flowwriter-1.0.2/
java -jar flowwriter-1.0.2.jar

Bet it could be better
