flashcomm developer version

Im trying to set up FCS(flash communication server aka. Flashcomm) for multicasting live video. I went and got the developer version from Macromedias site and the deal should be that up to 5 users can connect to test it. I installed the dev version on my windows 2000 machine (not windows 2000 server just OS). All the apps work fine if I run them from my machine. If I upload the swf to my remote server and call my app lying on my FCS via RTMP (changing the URL so that its global of course) it works from the local machine as normal, but if I try to link up from another machine, it doesnt work. How do I make more than 1 connection.

(svar på dansk er fint)

Stanford

PS. Im a bit desperate at the moment, so if there is anyone out there good at setting up FCS and understands the way it ticks, I will flood you with points if you can get me started.

Stanford saw your question on the flahsCom list ;-)

How do you connect to the server? It could sound like your'e connecting through a closed port or maybe a used port. If you've got a firewall try opening port 1935 (standard flashcom port)

nc = new NetConnection ();
nc.connect ("rtmp://ip_address:1935/my_application");

Ok, I tried that. Heres whats happening.
I make an swf with the following code:

client_cam=Camera.get();
Live_video.attachVideo(client_cam);
function initStreams() {
    // Make a connection to the application on the FCserver
    client_nc = new NetConnection();

    client_nc.connect("rtmp://192.168.1.26:1935/scor_test");

    //status message
    client_nc.onStatus = function(info) {
        var myTrace="Level: " + info.level + " Code: " +  info.code;
        _root.outt.text=myTrace;
                (tracing to a textbox)
    }
}

// Connect to server and set up streams
initStreams();

--------
on the FCS i simply created a folder with the name scor_test with nothing in it.

-------
i uploaded the swf to my hosted server. (www.fla10.com/test/out_user.swf)

-----

when I call the

Obviously I just needed to go through the steps in my head. Ive got it working now!! (I had a firewall up on my server not on my outgoing computer)...so now at least step one works. I will guarantee you that there are more questions to come. Meanwhile, send me a svar and Ill send you some points.

client_nc.connect("rtmp://192.168.1.26:1935/scor_test");

Looks like your local ip adress. You should use your WAN addres. Try e.g. www.minip.dk to get it.

Im just gonna continue on this thread...just to get your attention. I'm still getting problems with my developer version and it looks like I may have to buy the personal version for testing. Meanwhile, could you check this link: http://www.fla10.com/test/
and tell me if you get a connection: success.
(You may need to have a webcam running.)

Meanwhile it may be best to start a NEW THREAD for this next step:
to find out if the following is possible. I want to embed an swf that makes a rtmp connection to the server to stream live video from the user. When the user advances to another page on the site and thus unloads the swf, I want the users webcam to still be transmitting. Is this possible. Can flashcom's application object remember and keep streaming that info. If not is it possible to set up an ID in a DB and force it to send?

Looking forward to hearing from you.

I do my testing either locally or with my outer IP. Have you tried http://www.minip.dk/ to get your IP - You've got other servers running on the machine...??

But you might have to try to shut your firewall down or at least give it the correct port permissions

my firewall is competely down and I have my rtmp pointing to the IP address www.minip.dk churned out to me.  (I love that site!) All the computers in this building get connection.success (even the Macs). Im baffelled, but moving on assuming these problems will solve themselves when I run them on a personal or pro edition. Ill post new questions on a new thread. Thanks!
