DHCP server using Option 82 for static IP assignment
I search for some information about configuring a Windows DHCP server using option 82 (RFC 3046).http://www.faqs.org/rfcs/rfc3046.html
This function allow an static IP assignment based on "A Device on Port 1 of Switch A will always get the IP address v.x.y.z"
It's based on the network topology rather the MAC address of the devices.
With the option 82 an automated faulty device replacement can be handled, together with other DHCP Options 66/67 it can be automatically configured. (A device replacement means new MAC address)
I've got a DHCP server for windows and everything works fine but, it's a very simple DCHP Server and i'm uncertain about the stability. It's called HaneWIN DHCP-server.
Does anybody has knowledge how to configure another DHCP server to use this fine function? One of the other main reasons why we're searching for a replacement software is that every entry has to be entered in HEX, which is rather inappropriate and increases the chance for errors in the configurations.
Thanks in advance,
Ulrich
PS. It's easier for me to explain myself in english, but i read perfect danish!
