How do I start my recently installed program?

try to see if the file:

/usr/bin/lincvs

exists; according to http://rpms.mandrivaclub.com/rpms/mandriva/devel//cooker/i586/media/contrib/release/lincvs-1.4.4-1mdk.i586.html
it should be installed there

No unfortenately it was not there either.

Do you think I need to restart the machine? Is that common to do?

Does it matter if I installed it as "su" or "fredrik"?

i dont think that you need to reboot the machine. I think that you need to install the program as root or else it will fail.

But you have not installed any program at all !!?

This looks like a source code rpm: urpmi lincvs-1.4.1-1-Mandriva-src.rpm

(Haven't used Mandake for years but I guess "src" should mean source code ??)

If you want to use sourcecode it will need to be compiled and installed as source code ?? (make + make install)

If not you will need to download a rpm that is already compiled (that doen not contain "src" as part of the name.

Its possible I am wrong, but I thaught that a source code rpm would not install the program only put the sourcode in a possition from where it can be installed. (I have actually never used a sourcecode rpm only rpms and sourcode that was not downloaded as an rpm.)

hm, this just proves that you dont always read all of the text but that you guess at what it says.
