A friend seems to messed up his PC?

Hello!

I got a friend that tried to install Windows Vista on a Acer mini PC that was preinstalled with XP.

I have not seen it myself but I think it is this one:

How ever after the install the computer does not want to restart.
I have not seen it at for my self.

I guess he got a cd with Vista but not with XP. So I think he can not reinstall it with XP and try again.

If any one got any ideas what might happen and the best solution please let me know.

His goal is to use it with Vista.

Best regards
Fredrik

The problem might be that he has xp OS on a recovery partition. It seems to lock his computer to that OS.

But we need to know how far he  gets, when i tries to install the Vista OS. You say i wouldn't reboot, but can he delete the XP OS? Then the Vista will work just fine after format.

Hello!

Thanks for the answers!

1) Unfortenately, right now, I do not know how far he gets when he tries to install Vista. But is there a easy way to delete the XP OS?

2) Correct me if I'm wrong but when you say "It seems to lock his computer to that OS", do you think this is possible to unlock this in the bios?

3) I guess there is a XP-partion on the netbook. When you say "Det kan IKKE anbefales at køre Vista." does that means that he can not install Vista at all? If true, why not?

Best regards
Fredrik

Vista kræver alt for mange resurser, til at en netbook kan klare det. Skal der noget andet windows ind, skal det nok være 7'eren (hvis pc kan klare det hardwaremæssigt).

Hello guys!

What do you think about: The problem might be that he has xp OS on a recovery partition. It seems to lock his computer to that OS.

Is it possible to remove the recovery partition completely?
If yes, then how do we remove it?

Best regards
Fredrik
