SAP afviser patentkritik

SAP kritiseres for at undergrave åbne standarder for e-business ved at udtage patenter der vedrører ebXML, UBL og EDIFACT.

Computerworld har stillet følgende spørgsmål til Günther Stuhec og SAP.

There has been quite an uproar in the UN/CEFACT community regarding SAP patents relating to the implementation of CCTS. Among others, Klaus-Dieter Naujok accuses SAP for unethical behaviour and predicts a patent-crisis in UN/CEFACT. What is your response to this?

Did SAP abuse its participation in the standard-work to secretly file patents based on the standardisation-work?

Even though you are not patenting the standard, you are patenting the implementation of the standard. Do you see anything wrong in this?

Did you declare to other participants in UN/CEFACT that you planned to file for patents related to CCTS before or during your UN/CEFACT-standardisation work?

How will SAP repair the apparently broken trust in the UN/CEFACT groups?

Which specific steps have SAP taken to restore trust in the UN/CEFACT groups?

Indtil videre har Computerworld fået følgende svar:

"SAP strongly supports open standards including UN/CEFACT Core Component Technical Specification (CCTS).

As a participant in the UN/CEFACT community, SAP is fully committed to the UN/CEFACT intellectual property rules which were agreed upon by all delegations of the UN member nations.

As a member of the UN/CEFACT community, SAP is in constant dialogue with the UN/CEFACT management to ensure that the standard development process is fully transparent and open to all members.

SAP strongly supports open standards such as UN/CEFACT to help our customers achieve business agility and process flexibility with enterprise SOA"
