Starting with .NET and install SDK?
Hello!I have just started to look at some .NET development so I'm a real rookie.
I use to develope with Java and the SDK 1.5 from Sun.
I prefer to use TextPad and it looks like it should be possible to use TextPad for .NET. That sounds great to me!
At http://www.textpad.com/support/faq/csharp.html#download they say this:
2. Download the .Net SDK
Next, you will need to download the .NET SDK from:
http://www.microsoft.com/net/
Be warned that the setup file is 86MB! Install it when the download is complete.
....
But when I enter that site I go to:
0) http://www.microsoft.com/net/
1) Developers (http://www.microsoft.com/Net/developers.aspx)
2) .NET Framework Developer Center (http://www.msdn.microsoft.com/netframework/)
3) At the right side the blue image-link with the text (Get the Framework) (http://www.msdn.microsoft.com/netframework/downloads/updates/default.aspx)
4) I choose ".NET Framework 2.0 SDK Beta 1 x86"
At step 4 I get to a page where I can download a setup.exe-file that has the size 234532 KB.
Pretty big file! Much bigger then they refer to at www.textpad.com that was 86MB.
So my question is: Is this the right file for .NET development like the Java 1.5 SDK from Sun that just are about 50MB if I rememeber correct.
Or should I try to find some other file?
I just want a slim install with the tools to be able to compile and run .NET and like that.
Best regards
Fredrik
